Tech Tactics/Skills
Overview
As a new entrepreneur who wants to bring a software solution to market, one of your biggest challenges is building the first iteration of your product. Your choices generally fall into three categories:
Find a technical cofounder who can build it
Hire someone to build it
Build it yourself
To effectively build your MVP, you need to figure out how to determine exactly what it is you need to build, define what needs to be built in a way that's effective for other people to follow, and then have sufficient technical skills to either manage the people building the project, or build it yourself. To help get you to MVP, the volunteers, Karl McCollester and Fred Gertz, at GrowCo have two series: TechTactics and TechSkills.
TechTactics provides the core product management skills you need to effectively manage the product life cycle so you can:
Build Personae and User Stories to figure out the how the business needs of your clients transfer into features
Prototype interfaces so you can get feedback on application functionality without spending too much time on code
Manage your team or yourself through the development process.
Skills
TechSkills gives you the core skills to build web applications yourself so you can start the build process or better manage those you bring on:
Get an introduction to quickly prototyping a web application with Ruby on Rails
Learn the components of bringing a web application to life
Get introduced to the tools used by application development
Work through deploying your application and making it available for others to use
